Maija Hirvanen’s choreography BLINK is based on the duration of a blink of an eye, a short blind moment. BLINK began in January 2007 during a residency in Iceland, when it was sometimes impossible to see much of anything on that dark island. The performance forms stories of seeing, believing and choosing through physical art. Some of these stories appear in distant times and places. Some emerge from the here-and-now. All of these stories arise from the body’s ability to step into old dreams and new acts.
